This weekend at Meyer Werft Shipyard, the Disney Treasure floated out of the building to dock into the shipyard harbor. A scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators in Papenburg, Germany, gathered to watch the special construction milestone. The Float Out celebrates the completion of the ship’s exterior and is a significant maritime tradition.
A tugboat led the way, guiding the ship’s stern through the narrow doorway, which allowed for just three feet on either side of the vessel!
The Disney Treasure is now ready for finishing touches to its interior venues. It continues to prepare for its transatlantic journey to its future home port in Florida.
Peter Pan and Captain Hook have finally made their way onto the Disney Treasure!
A year ago, we revealed the first artist rendering of the Disney Treasure’s stern. Now the team at Meyer Werft Shipyard is celebrating the installment of the character sculptures! Before making their way to Papenburg, Germany, the sculptures were built in California. To give an idea of the scale of these characters, Peter Pan is over 9 feet tall and wears a size 36.5 shoe! Both figures were carefully lifted by the shipyard team with cranes and securely bolted to the ship’s stern. Captain Hook and Peter Pan complement the Disney Treasure’s theme of adventure and add a touch of Disney magic to the classically designed exterior of the ship.
